A chat with Amazon through their app confirmed that this was indeed a scam. At that point the possibilities are endless on how they can steal from you. Then the nefarious actors of course have access to your PC. I have done some Google searching and it seems anydesk is a remote access hub, and that there is indeed a scam where people will trick users to download this.

The caller requested my family member to download anydesk to get the return paperwork started and processed.įor the purpose of this post I'll call this family member Jane. The person calling has the real order number and amount of the order. The return process for this item was indeed started yesterday. Today a subsidiary on the account received a call from "Amazon" about a pending return item. My family has several members that live very close together.
